 At Pecos Cyber Academy, assessments play a vital role in tracking student progress, meeting state requirements, and supporting personalized learning. Our Assessment Team works diligently to ensure students have the tools, accommodations, and resources they need to succeed in a safe and supportive environment.

Assessment Schedule & Locations

We are currently booking testing locations throughout New Mexico to make assessments as convenient as possible. The following are the tentative dates and locations for Spring 2025 testing:

 

AVANT/ACCESS TESTING  (For Students in English Language and Dual Language Programs)

January 15, 2025  -- Bernalillo, Deming. Hobbs, Las Vegas, Raton, Ruidoso, Socorro

January 16, 2025  -- Espanola, Lovington

January 17, 2025  -- Alamogordo, Artesia, Carlsbad, Estancia, Farmington, Los Lunas, Roswell, Santa Fe

January 22, 2025  -- Clovis

January 23, 2025  -- Las Cruces, Rio Rancho (Albuquerque)

January 24, 2025  -- Las Cruces, Rio Rancho (Albuquerque)

Safety Plans for Testing Locations

The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Each testing site will have a detailed safety plan to ensure smooth and secure assessments. These safety plans will be available here for download as soon as they are finalized. Please check back for updates.


What to Expect on Testing Day

  • Arrival Instructions: Families will receive detailed emails with directions to their assigned location.
  • What to Bring: Parents should bring a photo ID for pickup and all students need to bring a lunch. Students may bring a book. 
  • Please no backpacks, ipads, air/earpods or smart watches.  If students need a phone for after testing communication to home, their phone will be turned off and then collected by teachers during the test portions and later returned. Public phones will be available to students when they are done or in emergencies if they leave their own phone at home.
  • Accommodations: Students with approved accommodations will receive all necessary support during testing.

 Renaissance assessments provide a snapshot of student proficiency in reading and math. These adaptive tests adjust to each student’s ability level, offering valuable data to guide instruction, set learning goals, and monitor progress throughout the year.

 IStation is a comprehensive tool used to assess and enhance reading and literacy skills. It delivers personalized learning paths for students, while teachers receive data-driven insights to target specific areas of improvement. IStation assessments are fun and engaging, encouraging students to grow as readers. 

NMMSSA

 The NMMSSA is New Mexico’s state-mandated assessment for students in grades 3-8, measuring proficiency in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science. This test ensures students are meeting state standards and provides valuable insights for schools to improve teaching strategies.

 The NMASR evaluates students' mastery of science standards, focusing on grades 5, 8, and 11. This assessment emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific literacy to prepare students for advanced science education and careers. 

SAT

 The SAT is a standardized test widely used for college admissions. It assesses students' abilities in Math, Reading, and Writing, providing them with opportunities for scholarships and college entry. At PCA, we prepare students for the SAT to help them achieve their post-secondary goals.
